PhD Studentship (Ultrasound)

We are seeking a suitable PhD candidate with interests in mathematics, fluid dynamics and ultrasound or acoustics to work on a major new project with multidisciplinary group of experts.

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD. The aim of the research investigates both fundamental and applied aspects of the ultrasonic separation phenomenon. The PhD candidate will focus on mathematical modelling of the fundamental physics, leading to a prediction of experimental results and ultimately the industrial economics of the process.

The Partner Organisations in the project are the Swinburne University of Technology, the Geoffrey Gardiner Dairy Research Foundation, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

The position will be based at the Swinburne University of Technology campus at Hawthorn, a vibrant district approximately 10 minutes by train from central Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne was ranked first in the 2011 World’s Most Liveable Cities index

Eligibility:
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, physics or a related discipline.

Amount Awarded:
The value of this scholarship is $28,000 (AUD) per annum (tax exempt) for three years.
